About the project

Edgar Tavares was originally born in Mexico but moved to Las Vegas in 1997. He has always been a highly motivated and active person, playing sports such as soccer and volleyball and always looking for something new to keep him occupied. In 2003 he became passionate about salsa after he watched a couple performing a salsa routine at school and decided to learn. After a few months of classes he decided to join a salsa dance team. With this team he was able to learn choreography, grow as a dancer and as a performer. He was able to balance dance and school until he graduated from UNLV as an Electrical Engineer and currently works as a Network Engineer for a telecommunications company.

Although he has over ten years of experience with salsa, his true passion is in Bachata. He enjoys the fun, playfulness, and rhythm of this genre and continually strives to improve and grow his knowledge as a dancer.
